How to setup your own WWW page on PubNIX

Create your page(s) using either a Windows based HTML editor such as
Microsoft Frontpage
,
Hotdog
,
Netscape Communicator
, or a macro package for your favorite word processor.

Upload your page(s) including any graphic images into your account's
public_html
directory.

Connect to using either your publishing tool's built-in FTP mode or the PubNIX Personal FTP Service option in WinFTP.

The hostname is: shell.pubnix.net, and you will need to specifiy your username and password.

Change directory to your public_html directory.

Send the files.

Make sure that your initial file is called index.html, and that it is placed in your public_html directory.

Test your creation by entering the URL
http://www.pubnix.net/~username
in your WEB browser.
NOTES:
-
We do not support Microsoft's front page extensions on www.pubnix.net.

A program is run every hour to automatically generate the list of user's home pages.
-
In the event that you DO NOT want your page to appear on this list, place an empty file called .nolist in your public_html directory.

You may place a custom description for your page that will appear instead of your name in the list of user's home pages. You can do this by placing a file called .description in your public_html directory containting a short one line description of your WWW page.
